Our annual LakeFest Fly-in and Safety Seminar will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn, Lakeland, Florida, February 26-28, March 1, 2017. LakeFest is the premier Lake event in the world. There is no place else on earth where you can learn so much about Lakes and how to maintain, operate and enjoy them. Daily seminars featuring Lake specialists and other aircraft experts are conducted each morning of the event. In the afternoons, you can fly the area’s many freshwater lakes, get expert instruction from the Lake instructors in attendance, and meet and mingle with the many Lake owners and pilots in attendance.
While it is great to do so, you do not need to bring a Lake to attend. Although there will be dozens of Lake amphibians in attendance, many people drive to the event or arrive via airlines. Both Orlando and Tampa Airports are about an hour drive away from Lakeland.
Sunday, February 26 will be a day of arrivals. There will be designated Lake Amphibian parking and a special fuel rate. Watch the Lakes arrive from near and far at the airport, greet your old friends and make new ones. The first scheduled event will be an opening cocktail party at 5:30, followed by an opening banquet.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings we have programmed three days of intensive Lake Learning Sessions. Afternoons are open for flying. There will be various evening “fireside chats” and special activities. Casual attire is appropriate for all activities.
Thursday is departure for home or other exotic places.
It is extremely important to register with Lake Amphibian Club early for LakeFest (see our newsletter, Lake Club News, our website, www.lakeamphibclub.com or our Forum for registration forms and instructions).
Equally important is to reserve a room at the Hilton Garden Inn, Lakeland, to insure a reduced room rate. (863-647-0066 and mention Lake Amphibian Club for the special room rate which will be honored for three days before and after the flyin). Cut-off date is January 25, 2017.
OR visit the link – http://tinyurl.com/LakeFest Rooms17 and make your reservation on line.
The following is insisted upon by the hotel: After the reservation due date of January 25, 2017, the Hotel will release the unreserved rooms for general resale. Any reservation received after the reservation due date will be accepted on a space and/or a significantly higher rate available basis only. Should the guest room block be filled prior to the cut-off date, any additional room requests will be negotiated on a space and/or rate available basis. Check in time is 3:00pm, and check-out time is 12:00pm. Certain exceptions to these times may be approved on a first-come, first-served basis, and are solely at the discretion of Hotel Management.
Please note: Unlike prior years, if you must cancel your reservation due to unforeseen weather conditions or mechanical problems, you must cancel your reservations seventy-two (72) hours prior to arrival or your credit card associated with the reservation will be charged one night’s room rate, and tax. We tried to negotiate this important detail, but had no success. Since the hotel rates are higher than the Lake Club special rate if you must cancel, please call Greg Bradford, LakeFest Chairman first so we can save the Lake Club special rate for that room for another member. His number is 631-605-4061 firstname.lastname@example.org
